Say hello to my Black Magic Production Camera 4K

It feels good to be ahead of the game! After years of hard work and grinding  I can now focus on cinematography. The BMPC is a good investment not only for clientele, but projects are now possible such as; infomercials, mock trailers and fake ad campaigns. Infamous is now a possibility. My primary source of movie making joy is the new skills I'm going to learn! You can call my camera KAHN!

The Damned film is now 100% Funded!

Today marks a glorious milestone!! I successfully raised funds for my film THE DAMNED. The friends and family who donated really believed in me and I'm grateful for that. Now my focus is on getting this film completed. Everything from costume design, make up, effects, post production, cinematography, music score and more is in the balance. LET THE FUN BEGIN!!!!!!

Halloween Interview at CJSR 88.5fm

Phase 1 campaigning for THE DAMNED was fun and I mean bloody fun. I was on for at least an hour promoting The Damned. I talked about the 666 perk, where 2 donators male/female get a chance to be made into a demon with the skills and talents of an efx make up artist. Other than that taking heads off was the next best part of that night!

Code Name Jade : The Past Is Not Far Behind(Ep.3)

Here is episode 3 of Code Name Jade: THE PAST IS NOT FAR BEHIND. I'm very pleased with the direction I went with the series because I penned something completely different. Originally I was going to focus on the Ms.B character but due to scheduling differences the idea was trashed. Thankfully the gears in my head pushed towards a heist idea where Jade got involved with another woman who organized a plan to rob a poker game run by mobsters. I was influenced by classic films such as; The Killing, Reservoir Dogs and Set it off.

Halloween costume Phase 2 (Michael Myers)

Here is phase 2 of my Michael Myers costume. I added some of my own elements to the masked killer. Black gloves and fresh blood on the mask to go along with the prop knife. I added liquid latex to the knife mixed with stage blood and red paint. Update: I added a severed head to the costume, giving it an edge. A friend of mine Krissy Rasko painted and shaped a female head back when I did How to survive a zombie apocalypse(2009). I just added some stage blood to the severed head. The concept of the costume is to be Michael Myers after a fresh beheading.

My Halloween Costume(Slasher)

This is phase one of my Michael Myers costume. I like the Rob Zombie version of the iconic mask, the rugged exterior  make the mask more chilling. The coveralls is what sold me on going as the iconic masked killer. I found them at Value Village for $10. After that I had to go all out as Michael Myers. Halloween marks an event I thought of the SLASHER inspired film INFAMOUS. This is my ode to the classic horror genre.

RIP Wes Craven

In 2013 I wrote a script for a fan film based off A Nightmare On Elm Street films. My goal was to make Wes Craven proud. The first shoot for my film was on Wes Craven’s birthday August 2nd. Sadly he passed August 30th 2015, I was heavily influenced by Cravens work. I grew up during the 80′s and Freddy Krueger was frightening monster, especially to a kid at 5 years old. At a young age I was fully aware of Cravens influential work  and I respected his title as a writer/director. The fan film The Beginning Of A Nightmare was a celebration of Cravens influence, and how he influenced me as a writer/director.  His legacy will live on by influencing filmmakers and his films will last forever. RIP Wes Craven.

Heading out to the screening

Just about to head out for the screening of YOUTH IN ACTION: THE FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY IN #YEG. Here is a photo of me at THE METRO on the 29th. I saw the film DOPE.
As a filmmaker it's good to see your work in the lobby as the feature.

Youth In Action: The Fight Against Poverty In YEG Trailer

Here is the documentary project that I've been working on for most of the year, YOUTH IN ACTION: THE FIGHT AGAINST  POVERTY IN #YEG has been a blast to work on. I love documentaries, because they provide a filmmaker great challenges when dealing with real life. The biggest challenge for me was to tell a good story that everyone can relate to. I enjoyed working with Stephenie, Maigan, Brandon and Troy. I learned so much from them and this documentary helped me grow as a filmmaker. Big thanks to the crew; Harvey Li, Gabby Moukhiber, Jarett Sinclair, David Gallehanger and most importantly The John Humphrey Centre For Peace And Human Rights. This film will be screening at The Garneau theatre Sunday August 30th. I will be posting some pics of the event later this week.

VHS Horror vault

My collection of horror masterpieces are the last of their kind. My horror VHS collection has been
a staple in my artistic growth as a film maker. This is only a small portion of my collection, the rest is systematically placed with a director of my favorite films. Horror films have been my first glimpse into the art of making films. I remember looking at the names of the crew such as cinematographers, make up efx artist writers and directors. The Friday The 13th films were classic SLASHER movie making that had an atmospheric tones that gave the films a timeless look at the sub genre. Zombie films are always one of my favorite  horror sub genres, especially the George Romero films. The remakes live up to the classics delivering a gore fest of horror.

The reason why I keep these clunky pieces of art is the packaging and the art work on the covers.
films on VHS give off a crisp analog sound that is perfect for sampling. I love the NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD trilogy box sets, they really stand out. Even though some of my films are not the full series I still enjoy watching them for ideas when it comes to my film projects.

David Fincher - A Tribute

Code Name Jade 03: The Past Is Not Far Behind

I'm very pleased with the direction I went with the story of Code Name Jade. Episode 3 is about the past shaping who we are in the present. Jade was involved in a high roller poker robbery that resulted into a triple homicide. The score was a killing making Jade very rich, as it turns out diamonds was the main target in the robbery. I was very pleased with the way the script came out, I challenged my self to go in a different route as compared to the other episodes. This episode is more darkly themed giving the viewer a feast of new characters and a glimpse into Jade's past.

I was influenced by heist films such as The Killing, Reservoir Dogs, Belly and The Sopranos. I wanted to add a love triangle that deals with a double crosses, love and betrayal. The actors playing the roles did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.  The crew was on point, especially since we rehearsed on the day of the shooting, Honestly the script I penned was easy and straight forward it was good to see the cast giving their all.

The skill set I learned with each episode in the Code Name Jade series is the challenge of creating unique individual stories, but share the continuous story line. This episode is the building block to the creation of Jade's character and how she survives in the underworld.

Code Name Jade episode 3: The Past Is Not Far Behind

Here is episode 3 of my series CODE NAME JADE

This is a flash back sequence to how it all started for Jade. She was in love with the wrong girl who
got Jade mixed up in a high stakes poker game robbery. The ladies involved did an amazing job as well the guys playing mafioso gangsters. I decided to go into a complete different direction with the series by giving Jade(played by Ecko Goffic) a dark back story that explains her reasons for being involved in the underground organ harvesting trade. Stay tuned  for more pics and insight.
