Man Bites Dog

I remember watching this exciting film about 6 years ago, and I was blown away by the hilarious social satire. Man Bites Dog is a film that is ahead of it's time. Released in 1992 and shot on black and white 35mm film, it features a film crew following a serial killer around as he murders numerous victims. This film has elements of violence, horror and comedy.  It  socially comments on societies fascination with the lives of  serial killers and it predates reality TV. The 90's was an interesting time, books, movies and music were at a subversive nature as the 20th century was coming to a close. Man bites dog and books such as American Psycho told the truth about our daily lives that it's boring and escapism into the dark side was more fun, in a way that was suitable for this culturally explosive decade. With events that followed such as; O J Simpson trial, Tanya Harding etc.. We as a society were
glued to the TV screens drooling over the controversy and scandals that followed the celeb or high profile subject. The reason I'm posting this on my blog is that this film is one of my inspirations for my new up and coming film INFAMOUS. With social media and camera phones documenting our  moves it makes Man bites dog  so relevant to our time (2014)it's uncanny.  The 90's was a time that shaped who we are now in the 21st century were privacy and public life is now a blur and being famous for the wrong reason is now considered a social norm.
